Besan is a miracle food for losing weight. Besan, also called gram flour, has always been our mothers’ and grandmothers’ favorite flour. In Indian homes, besan has a special place, whether it’s in a simple dahi kadhi or a chilla. It’s also used in many recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This fine powder of protein-rich grams is full of nutrients and can be used in several easy-to-cook recipes. Besan has fiber, iron, potassium, phosphorus, folate, thiamine, copper, zinc, and a number of other nutrients.

Here are 5 simple besan recipes that are full of nutrients and easy to make.

Besan Chilla

In a bowl, put two tablespoons of besan (take a bigger bowl so that it will be easy for you to mix the ingredients while preparing the batter for the chilla). Put some water in it. Mix the besan and water together constantly and make it thin enough to flow. Add salt, pepper, ajwain, red chili, your favorite vegetables, and your favorite spices.

Wait 5 minutes before using the batter.

Put some butter, ghee, or oil in a pan and heat it over medium heat. Pour one ladle of the batter into the pan and spread it out as much as you want. When one side is done, turn it over. Both sides should take 5 minutes to cook. Eat it warm.


Put besan, salt, sugar, citric acid, and turmeric in a bowl. Mix this together and then add water to make it a medium consistency.

Put a little bit of oil in a pan that is steaming.

Add water to the baking powder in a small glass. Mix the other ingredients into the besan batter, then pour the batter into the pan that is steaming.

After 15 minutes, take the besan batter out of the steamer.

When it has cooled down, cut it into pieces and eat them.

Toast besan

This is a different way to make toast that can be tasty.

Put besan, finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and herbs and spices of your choice into a bowl. If you add water to this, you can make a thin batter. Make sure the batter doesn’t have any lumps.

Split the brown bread in half and dip each half into the batter. Put it right away in a hot pan with butter or oil and toast it. Eat it warm.

Gatte ki sabji

Add hing, turmeric, jeera, ajwain, dhania powder, and salt to a bowl of besan. Curd and oil should be added to this mix. Mix everything well, and then knead it into a dough by slowly adding water.

Bring a lot of water to a boil in a large pot. When the water starts to boil, roll the besan dough into thin sticks and dip them in the boiling water to cook them properly.

Once they are done cooking, take them out and cut them into small pieces. You’ll need onions, ginger and garlic paste, and spices to make your gravy. Once the gravy is done, add the cooked besan, which is also called gatte, and let it cook for a while.


This is another very simple way to make besan.

Take equal parts of besan and buttermilk, which is 1:3. If you like the taste of raw spices, add ginger and green chili paste to the batter. If not, you can leave these out.

Put the batter into a pan and cook it until it thickens. Stir the batter all the time.

Once the batter is thick, use ghee or oil to grease a plate. Spread the batter out on the plate. Spread it out on the plate and roll it up into small, thin rolls.

Let it cool, and then add coriander or coconut to the top.
